AdUp Australia

Safety & Community Guidelines

Last updated: 1 September 2026

1. Keep listings accurate

Listings should accurately describe the room, location, price, availability and important conditions.

Do not publish fake, misleading or unavailable rooms.

2. Protect your personal information

Avoid posting unnecessary personal information publicly.

AdUp shows an approximate property location rather than the exact address publicly. Consider sharing an exact address only when you are comfortable arranging an inspection with another user.

3. Be careful with payments

Be cautious if someone pressures you to transfer money quickly, requests unusual payment methods, or asks for money before you have reasonably verified the room and the person offering it.

AdUp does not currently process rent, bonds or accommodation payments between users.

4. Inspections

Take reasonable precautions when arranging or attending an inspection.

  • Tell someone you trust where you are going.
  • Consider meeting during daylight hours where practical.
  • Trust your judgment and leave if you feel unsafe.
  • Do not feel pressured to make an immediate payment or decision.

5. Respect other users

Treat other AdUp users respectfully.

Harassment, threats, abuse, intimidation, hate speech and unlawful discrimination are not permitted.

6. Messaging

Use AdUp messaging for genuine conversations about listings.

Do not send spam, scams, threats, harassment or unrelated commercial messages.

7. Photos and content

Upload photos that genuinely represent the room or property being advertised.

Do not upload content that is unlawful, misleading, abusive, sexually explicit, or infringes another person's rights.

8. Warning signs of a possible scam

Be cautious if someone:

  • refuses reasonable questions about the property;
  • claims they cannot arrange an inspection but demands payment;
  • creates unusual urgency or pressure;
  • requests payment through an unusual or difficult-to-reverse method;
  • provides information that conflicts with the listing; or
  • asks for sensitive personal or financial information without a clear reason.

9. Reporting a listing

If you believe a listing is misleading, fraudulent, inappropriate or unsafe, use the Report Listing option on the room page.

Reports may be reviewed by AdUp and can result in a listing being unpublished or an account being restricted or suspended.

10. Emergencies

AdUp is not an emergency service.

If you or another person are in immediate danger in Australia, contact emergency services on 000.

11. Moderation

AdUp may review reports and take reasonable action where necessary to protect users or the service.

This can include unpublishing listings, restricting features or suspending accounts.
