AdUp Australia
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 September 2026
1. About this Privacy Policy
AdUp Australia ("AdUp", "we", "us" or "our") provides an online marketplace that helps people advertise, discover and communicate about rooms and related accommodation opportunities.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information when you use AdUp.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use AdUp, we may collect information including:
- account information, such as your name, email address and account identifier;
- information you provide in room listings, including suburb, room type, rental price, availability, descriptions, property information and photographs;
- the property address supplied when a room listing is created;
- messages and conversations exchanged through AdUp;
- saved listings and other actions you take while using the service;
- reports or complaints submitted about listings or users;
- technical information such as browser, device, IP address, logs and information used to maintain the security and operation of AdUp; and
- other information you choose to provide to us.
3. Location information
When an advertiser creates a room listing, AdUp may collect the full property address and precise geographic coordinates.
The exact property address and exact coordinates are not displayed publicly on the room listing. AdUp stores this information separately from the public listing data.
Public room listings may instead display an approximate location. The displayed map location may be intentionally offset from the exact property location to help protect the advertiser's privacy.
4. How we collect information
We generally collect personal information directly from you when you:
- create or manage an AdUp account;
- create or edit a room listing;
- send or receive messages;
- save or share listings;
- submit reports or contact us; or
- otherwise use the AdUp website.
Some technical information may be collected automatically when you use the website.
5. How we use personal information
We may use personal information to:
- create and manage user accounts;
- publish and manage room listings;
- allow users to communicate through AdUp;
- provide saved listings, sharing and other marketplace features;
- operate approximate-location and map functionality;
- investigate reports, suspected scams, misuse or breaches of our rules;
- moderate listings and suspend accounts where appropriate;
- maintain, improve and secure the AdUp service;
- communicate with you about your account or use of the service; and
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
6. Public information
Information included in a published room listing is intended to be visible to other users and visitors to AdUp. This may include the listing title, suburb, room details, price, availability, description, photos and approximate location.
You should avoid including sensitive or unnecessary personal information in public listing descriptions or photographs.
7. Messages
Messages sent through AdUp are available to the participants in the relevant conversation and may be accessible to AdUp where reasonably necessary to operate, secure or moderate the service, investigate reports, or comply with legal obligations.
8. Service providers
We use third-party technology and service providers to operate AdUp. These may provide services such as hosting, databases, authentication, file storage, email delivery, mapping, analytics and website infrastructure.
These providers may process personal information on our behalf where reasonably necessary to provide their services.
9. Overseas processing
Some service providers used by AdUp may store or process information outside Australia. The locations may vary depending on the infrastructure and services used by those providers.
Where required, we take reasonable steps to ensure personal information is handled appropriately in connection with these services.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. Users should also take reasonable steps to protect their account credentials and personal information.
11. Access and correction
You may request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
Some information can be updated directly through AdUp. For other requests, please contact us using the details below.
12. Account and information retention
We may retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain records, resolve disputes, investigate misuse, enforce our terms and comply with legal obligations.
Unpublishing a listing does not necessarily immediately delete the listing or related records from our systems.
13. Reports and moderation
If a listing or user is reported, we may review information associated with the report, listing and relevant account to investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
This may include marking a report as reviewed, unpublishing a listing or suspending an account.
14. Complaints
If you have a privacy concern or believe your personal information has been handled incorrectly, please contact us. We will review your concern and respond within a reasonable period.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as AdUp develops or our information-handling practices change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date.
16. Contact us
